The Omniscient Longchen Rabjamwas one of the most brilliant Dzogchen masters of the Nyingma lineage. He systematized the Nyingma teachings in his ‘Seven Treasures’ and wrote extensively on Dzogchen. He transmitted the Longchen Nyingtik cycle of teachings and practice to Jikmé Lingpa, and it has since become one of the most widely practiced of traditions. Along with Sakya Pandita and Je Tsongkhapa, he is commonly recognized as one of the three main manifestations of Mañjuśrī to have taught in Central Tibet. He was abbot of Samye, one of Tibet's most important monasteries and the first Buddhist monastery established in the Himalaya, but spent most of his life travelling or in retreat until finally attained rainbow-body accomplishment.

The great Nyoshul Khenpo expressed his penetrating and unshakeable faith in Longchenpa in the introduction to A Marvelous Garland of Rare Gems: Biographies of Masters of Awareness in the Dzogchen Lineage as follows:
Longchenpa embodies all the buddhas and bodhisattvas of the three times and ten diretions, all gurus, devas, and dakinis. What we need to realize is the actual meaning of “Longchenpa”, which is the essence of what is meant by “being at ease in the nature of mind” (Tib: semnyi ngalso). It was in order to exemplify and demonstrate that absolute Longchenpa that the omniscient Longchenpa manifested in our world, nearly seven hundred years ago. So by seeing his representation in form, by hearing his speech, and by remembering him, we can receive the blessing that will bring about the realization of the ultimate meaning of Dzogpachenpo. He embodies the intrinsic nature and essence of Dzogpachenpo, which pervades all beings in samsara and nirvana, and so he is never separate from us. All we need to do is to open our hearts in genuine devotion, and his blessing is immediate and utterly within our reach. By praying to Longchenpa, we can awaken the intrinsic, or absolute, Longchenpa within us, the wisdom of our own rigpa, present within the nature of our mind.

A Precious Garland for the Four Themes

A Precious Garland for the Four Themes was composed by the Omniscient Longchen Rabjam, an all-encompassing writing that subsumes the essential teachings from the Hinayana tradition up to the unsurpassable Dzogpachenpo, aiming to turn the mind of an ordinary human into that of an enlightened being. The four themes as the distillations from the entire spectrum of Buddha's teachings include:  1. Orienting our mind towards the genuine Dharma; 2. Taking the genuine Dharma as the path to liberation; 3. Dispelling all confusions on the path; 4. Transforming delusions into wisdom. What precious and rare opportunity it is to hear such supreme utterance of this transcendental wisdom by Khenchen Tsultrim Lodro Rinpoche! Anyone who seeks spiritual perfection and liberation should attend this teaching to uncover our inherent potential in attaining Buddhahood!
