Kurukulle Empowerment

based on a terma revealed by H.H. Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche

Kurukulle Dakini (Tib. Ri Jyema) is the deity of authority in Tibetan Buddhism, the feminine embodiment of enlightened wisdom appearing as a semi-wrathful dakini skilled in magnetizing all possible resources. She is endowed with the ultimate power rendered from the union of compassion and emptiness, possessing virtues that are all-pervasive and spontaneously present in the three realms, and mastery of all-accomplishing activities. She is therefore also known as the Dakini of Love and Magnetism. The vastness and profundity of her merits are beyond measure. She has one face, symbolizing the one taste of dharmata; three eyes symbolizing her presence permeating the three worlds; four arms signifies the four types of enlightened activities – pacifying, increasing, magnetizing, and subjugating, and the four immeasurables; wrathful expression indicates vanquishing of four demons; body with the color of red represents love and enticement; head adorned with five-skeleton crown symbolizes five enlightened wisdoms; necklace strung with fifty human heads signifies severing of beings’ ignorance thereby transcending the dualism of life and death. If one practices Kurukulle with faith, one would obtain the merits of a celestial being, earn respect and power from others, improve social relationship and attract positive connections, thrive in one’s career, being loved and valued by families, friends, and subordinates. All beings owe their gratitude to this dakini due to her great compassion. The Kurukulle sadhana not only offers swift success but also magnetize beings in the six realms and offer them the benefit of liberation from samsara. The Venerable Lama Drimed recognized the impact and hardship people are going through since the economic downturn. He also experienced the heart-felt empathy towards sanghas’ mental and physical distress in trying to sustain their livelihood, therefore he felt compelled to offer the Magnetizing Empowerment of Kurukulle Dakini in hope of aiding us all to achieve worldly success, which leaves more freedom for us to accumulate virtues on our path to the ultimate supra-mundane attainment.

Vajrakilaya Empowerment - based on a terma revealed by H.H. Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche

“"Branch of the Kilaya Tantra Gurkhukma called The Sole Kilaya of the Sacred Bond of the Heart”

At the request of H.H. Penor Rinpoche, H.H. Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche and his attendants visited India in 1990. When he arrived at the Aserea Cave in Yang-Lesho Province in Nepal, His Holiness experienced profound clarity where all phenomenal existence became nothing but pure appearances. The images of his past life as the prime minister of Nepal, Namodra, surfaced in his mind with vivid lucidity, including the vision of when Guru Padmasambhava entrusted the supreme teaching of Vajrakilaya to him right in this place. With unwavering certainty, His Holiness immediately uncovered this mind treasure from the ocean of his wisdom mind. This mind treasure called “A Branch of the Kilaya Tantra Gurkhukma called The Sole Kilaya of the Sacred Bond of the Heart” was in fact written by Guru Padmasambhava himself and has been considered the most powerful practice for removing obstacles. Guru Padmasambhva had sealed the treasure with a prophecy: “ I, the self-emerged Lotus-Born, shall entrust this ultimate heart essence of all Vajrakilaya Tantras to you, Namodra. Do not give up your practice. In the future when the degenerate time has come, you shall manifest as a sacred being and come to reveal and propagate this teaching. Samaya!” H.H. Dalai Lama also blessed the sadhana by composing the lineage prayer for this scripture.

The following are the eight supreme virtues gained from utilizing Vajrakilaya as one’s deity practice:
  • Obtain luck and all wishes can be fulfilled
  • Great success
  • Longevity
  • Great prosperity
  • Make connection with beneficial friends and loving families
  • Purify one’s negative karma
  • Empowered to remove demonic influences and hindrances
  • Obstacles are removed for all activities

“Phur” literally means emptiness, while “ba” represents wisdom. “Phurba” together symbolizes the non-dual nature of emptiness and wisdom unified. The practice of Phurba, i.e. Vajrakilaya, is mainly to cut through all self-based desires, ridding off our psychological fear, thereby realizing the nature of reality, the dharmata. It is also a practice to focus inwardly in knowing one’s own nature, instead of subjugating something externally. With this understanding and awareness, the practice of Vajrakilaya helps practitioners to remove all obstacles on the path of reaching Buddhahood, and all that are required for practitioners to remain in their practice will be spontaneously fulfilled. It stated in The Tantra of The Great Treasury of Scriptures that, “Vajrakilaya is the un-common deity unique to Nyingmapa tradition only. It is the manifestation of all buddhas and bodhisattvas’ enlightened activities. It is the only deity for all practitioners to rely on for removing all worldly and non-worldly obstructions. Therefore Vajrakilaya is considered the most important object of refuge in deity practice. When dakini Yeshe Tsogyal requested guidance from Guru Padmasambhava, he replied: “If one relies on Phurba, one would receive virtues such as wealth, longevity, well-being, fortune, and so forth.” To sum up, if one practices Phurba, one would be free from diseases and calamities, filled with joy and happiness, all wishes are spontaneously fulfilled in this lifetime. One would then attain the level of Vajrakilaya without effort in the next lifetime.
